Nathan Leydon - Double bass
Nathan Leydon’s passion for the Double Bass began at the age of 8. At the age of 12, he auditioned to be a member of the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra’s Youth Symphony which gave inspiration of pursuing a career in music. Soon after Nathan was selected to participate in the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP).
After graduating high school Nathan then went on to study Double Bass at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University under the tutelage of Dušan Walkowicz and Marian Heckenberg. While a candidate for the Bachelor of Music Nathan has performed with a number of world class conductors. Having performed with Opera Australia in their production of Verdi’s Aida and under the baton of
Johannes Fritsch in Mahler’s Eighth Symphony. Nathan has also performed with in the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and Camerata: Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra through their community programs.
Nathan is also an active member of the State Honours Ensemble Program as a conductor’s assistant working with both conductors and the future generations of musicians.
