Sophia Blinks - Violin

Sophia Blinks started her musical journey at the age of eight and then went on to discover her passion for orchestral playing with the Queensland Youth Symphony and Australian Youth Orchestra.

During her time at the Queensland Conservatorium she was under the tutelage of world renowned violinist, Graeme Jennings. She went on to lead the Queensland Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and attend the prestigious Aspen Music Festival and School at which she received tutelage from Chicago Symphony Orchestra concertmaster, Robert Chen and Renata Arado. She also undertook masterclasses with the Takacs, Brodsky, and Australian String Quartets, as well as the Australian Piano Quartet.

In 2018, Sophia completed her Bachelor of Music. During the same year, she was offered an internship with Camerata-Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra and has since joined the ensemble regularly on tours, ballet seasons and a variety of performances, including collaborations with William Barton and Julian Bliss.

Sophia strives to create an encouraging learning environment for students and hopes to inspire the next generation of musicians.
